Hi, I'm Sam

Wild Hill Garden Design is a Devon-based design studio led by me, Sam Burnett. I hold an RHS Diploma in Horticulture and also a professional Garden Design Diploma from the Garden Design School (run by renowned garden designer Robin Templar Williams). I have worked in horticulture as a plants woman and gardener for almost a decade now, having settled back in the South West following a globe-trotting career in hospitality and marketing.

Life has taken me from growing up on the wilds of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall to living and working in Europe, America, Africa and Japan. My eye in design has drawn on the influences of the places I have known, and also on the importance I hold in working with nature, encouraging biodiversity and minimising harm to the environment. As a parent, I realise the importance of outside space for youngsters and the family as a whole, so my designs will always make the most of the space available and will create a garden for all seasons.

Mid-Devon and its bucolic, rolling hills gave not just the name to my studio but an ethos in my designs: to create gardens that are naturally beautiful and with a little bit of wild.

Sam has been an absolute joy to work with, designing several very large borders, advising on suitable plants and then sourcing, planting and looking after them within the agreed budget.

The displays are beautiful and designed so there is always something new happening through the seasons. We just sit back and enjoy the many compliments from visitors!
